Mostly self-induced. October is looking much better. I’m going camping for 4 days…wish me luck. Then headed out to LA with my partner in crime to catch both Body & Soul and Deep in the same weekend! What else is on tap? Ezel on the 24th, the season’s final “Steel Lounge Underground” on the 30th (Badbwoy BMC, Little Martin & Peekaboo Theory) and then Rent on the 31st. Ain’t no stopping us now.
“Steel Lounge Underground” is this Friday, August 28th at Contemporary Arts Museum Houston from 8p-11p….DJ Drew, Eddie Spettro, and a live performance by Tax the Wolf. This a free all-ages community event!
It’s been some time since Houston has been blessed with the music of Sista Stroke. If you have never had the pleasure of hearing her DJ and experience the energy she brings then you really shouldn’t miss this show! For those who do know this woman…then you already know and you will be in the house. We hope to see you all there!
DJ Drew and DJ Pooks present Chicago house music legend Boo Williams, Saturday, August 22 at Block 21.
THIS IS A FREE EVENT!
We are so excited to welcome Chicago house music legend BOO WILLIAMS back to Houston! Boo has quite an amazing presence and is an incredibly talented DJ and producer. His DJ set at last at our last

Opening sets by Jeffery Mac, DJ Pooks, and DJ Drew! Plus…a bit of a “Les Femmes” reunion in the Howard Hughes lounge with Gracie Chavez (DIRB) and Jessica Lozano (Dirty Disko). Plus, Jessica will be celebrating her birthday with us this night!
The best effing monthly event in the city returns to Contemporary Arts Mueum this Friday night, July 31, 8p-11p…DJ sets from Gracie Chavez and Sasha Braverman vs. Henry Chow plus a live performance from Spain Colored Orange…this is an amazing, all ages, free, community event. Hope to see your sweet face out and about! Pooks xo
One of my favourite people ever, Candice Elliott headlines “The Kitchen” event at La Strada this Friday night, July 3rd. She’ll mix right on top of your shit. Support from Dasoul!, DJ Drew, DJ Pooks, Luisito, and Mr. Bristle. This is a free event!

The legendary Q-Burns Abstract Message returns to Houston this Saturday night at Block 21 (2420 Washington)…like lots of things we do, this event is absolutely free! Local support in three areas…D.I.R.B. crew Gracie Chavez and Antonio in the Howard Hughes lounge, breakbeats provided by Twinkdogg and Phylo on the patio (supported by the Chris “Flawless” Lawless) and opening sets in the main room by Amanda Robinson, DJ Drew, and Esteban Torres. We’re gonna swing by the “Soular Grooves” radio show (90.1 KPFT / www.kpft.org) just before the show for a quick interview with Seth Jones and hopefully play a couple of Q’s new tracks…certainly hope to see you out!
Always be asking yourself this question.
So, are you familiar with the 70’s comedy show routine with the guy and the pretty lady who spins glass plates on sticks until they all fall?
That’s kinda what my life is like.
